Ubisoft Announces Assassin’s Creed in virtual reality

Ubisoft has announced during AMD’s presentation during the Game Developers Conference to work on a virtual reality version of Assassin’s Creed. Ubisoft stresses AC: VR is not going to be a game.

While Ubisoft has decided not to deliver big Assassin’s Creed game in 2016, the company does not intend to rest the franchise. Thus, the announced Assassin’s Creed VR is based on another AC product, the movie to come out later this year. In the movie, Michael Fassbender plays the Spanish assassin Aguilar de Nerha, to battle with the Spanish Templars.

How the VR version will be implemented on this is unknown. Ubisoft did let us know that the “experience” will occur in Spain and England in the fifteenth century, according to Polygon, which was at the presentation of AMD. The VR version of Assassin’s Creed is being developed in collaboration with Fox and effects studio Practical Magic. Fox also produces the film.

Which VR glasses AC: VR will be released on is not yet known. Since it is not a game, availability is probably not limited to glasses as the Vive and the Oculus Rift.
