Google comes with a method for embedding virtual reality in websites and apps

Google has come up with a method to embed photos and videos in virtual reality on websites and in apps. On websites it is done through an iframe, apps via the Cardboard SDK, which was released Wednesday for iOS.

The VR content in the browser allows users to look around in virtual reality through swipe on the screen or mouse clicks, while smartphone users can use a Cardboard glasses, says Google. Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari Edge all support the method. On smartphones iOS 8 or higher for iPhones and version 4.4 or later for devices on Android.

VR footage must be stored in equirect-pano format. For photos, Google recommends jpg though png and gif work as well. Videos must be mp4 with h264 encoding. The technology works through the SDK of Cardboard on Android and iOS, by adding a few lines of code.

Viewing the images in apps on smartphones is done using a Cardboard-compatible VR goggles. Google presented the first Cardboard two years ago at its developer conference I / O, and now there are many variants available.
