The Flight Control System of the DJI Inspire one makes flying with the Inspire one very easily. All components interact with each other and give you a smooth and stable flight from the first time you fly with them.
The brain
The main controller is the brain of the DJI Inspire 1 and processes thousands of pieces of data to control the drone. The main controller operates each part of the DJI Inspire 1, and calculates environmental conditions and ensures that the DJI Inspire one responds immediately to your steering commands.
Position determination
During flight, the location of the drone is continuously updated and stored by a high quality and intelligent GLONASS + GPS system. This double positioning system ensures a higher precision in position determination and a faster contact with satellites. Through this double positioning system you can track the DJI Inspire one live on a map and it allows to have the drone on a floating point when you release the buttons on the transmitter.
Complementing the traditional GPS, GLONASS provides better precision by connecting with more satellites. The DJI Inspire one remembers the starting point and can also determine the position of the transmitter and can fly back to the driver with the press of a button.
Inertial Measurement Unit
The Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) of the DJI Inspire 1 keeps the quadcopter stable in the air. The IMU contains both a 6-axis gyroscope and an accelerometer that measures tiny changes in tilt and movements. The IMU ensures that the DJI Inspire keeps it’s first position at any time by correcting for small changes.
Powerful Drive
The drive system of the DJI Inspire 1 has been designed and built to enable sophisticated flights. The new drive system increases the efficiency and reliability. DJI has developed a special Z-blade propeller design. This 13 inch propeller is made of a new type of carbon material which ensures that the DJI Inspire 1 lingers stable in the air. The magnets in the motors are small curved magnets that ensure that no air passes through the motors. The motors of the DJI Inspire one will be much more efficient. Through the use of a single copper wire in the engines, the space between the wires is optimally utilized so that the motors provide more power and less resistance. These features combined with the new Electronic Speed Controller ensures that the DJI Inspire 1 is very efficient and reliable.
Aerodynamic design
The arms of the DJI INSPIRE1 are made of carbon which is a very strong and light material. The arms are also movable and can disappear with the push of a button from the camera image. Because the arms of the DJI INSPIRE1 go up after takeoff, you have a full 360 degree view without adding a landing gear image.
Each part of the DJI INSPIRE1 is designed to be durable and light. The hull has an aerodynamic design that captures little wind so the flight time is extended.
Gimbal and camera
Both the camera and the gimbal are of high quality and give you a nice and stable image. The camera lens, which consists of nine layers, lets you shoot at a resolution of 4096×2160 (4K) and takes photos of up to 12 megapixels. The DJI Inspire 1 is equipped with the new X3 Zenmuse gimbal that lets you have a 360 degree view. The 3-axis gimbal continuously measures data from the flight controller with which he can correct every millisecond when this is necessary.
Full control
Controlling the DJI Inspire 1 is made very easy by the new controllers from DJI. The controllers feature dual operator support that lets you control the DJI Inspire one with two people. The main controller controls the DJI Inspire 1 while the second controller controls the gimbal camera direction. Both controllers get to see the image of the camera through DJI Lightbridge.
Controller
The new controller of DJI has a powerful 6000 mAh 2S LiPo rechargeable battery. The indicators on the controller display the battery level so you do not have to worry that you suddenly have an empty battery. The controller has dedicated buttons to control the DJI Inspire 1 and the gimbal.
Vision Positioning System
To use the DJI Inspire one indoors, it has a Vision Positioning System. This allows the DJI Inspire one without GPS still hover at a fixed location. This system is also used for the landing gear of the DJI Inspire 1. When the Vision Positioning System sees that you are closer to the ground, it lowers the arms of the DJI Inspire 1 so it lands on it’s feet.
Intelligent Power Management System
The intelligent power management system of the DJI Inspire calculates precisely the status of the battery and gives you a signal when there is just enough capacity to fly the DJI Inspire one safe to the starting point.

Dynamic Homepoint
It is possible to change the home point which makes it easy when you pilot but not remain in the same location. This function is made possible with a GPS function in the controller. The dynamic home point is put on the location at which the pilot is located.
