The Nest Learning Thermostat ensures the desired temperature at the right time. It learns from your habits and saves energy by lowering the temperature when you are away. The 3rd generation Nest Learning Thermostat is suitable for all boilers. In combination with a modulating boiler, however, you save more energy. Nest can control the boiler and heats the water. Also, the thermostat has a large and clear display with the time and temperature. This lights up when you enter. Connect Nest to your Wi-Fi network at home and control it remotely with the Nest app on your smartphone or tablet. Every month you get an overview of the energy consumed. This way you know exactly what you spend each month on energy costs.

Almost everyone has already heard or read something about IFTTT (If This Then That), but many don’t know exactly what it is and what you can do with it. IFTTT is very extensive and is an ideal extension for the entire digital life.
IFTTT is a service on the Internet that you can access through both the web and via an IFTTT app. On IFTTT you can connect a variety of other services to perform various applets (formerly recipes). To precisely explain the operation of IFTTT we use some examples.
- Example 1: Upload each made Instagram photo automatically to Dropbox
- Example 2: Place all your tweets automatically on your Facebook account
- Example 3: As soon as the sun goes down you can turn on (all) HUE lights
- Example 4: When you upload a photo on Facebook, mention this on your Twitter
The above examples are just the tip of the iceberg, there are countless possible combinations. Literally translated IFTTT: If this than that, in short, when a certain event occurs IFTTT can follow up here. It sounds very complicated, but the effect is not so difficult.

You get three sensors with SmartThings, or how Samsung calls them, Things: a sensor that consists of several parts and is suitable for a window, door or cupboard, a motion sensor and a presence sensor. Moreover, there is also the power switch in the box. To get started, you first connect the hub to your router and then connect the sensors and you can set everything in the app.
Here are some of the commands that you can use with Google Home to control SmartThings:
- “Ok Google, turn on/off all lights.”
- “Ok Google, turn on/off all switches.”
- “Ok Google, turn on/off everything in the kitchen.”
- “Ok Google, dim/brighten the lights in the living room.” (This will adjust the brightness by 20%)
- “Ok Google, set the bedroom light to 10%.” (Brightness can be modified on a scale of 0-100%.)
- “Ok Google, dim/brighten the bathroom light by 50%.”
- “Ok Google, turn lights in the game room green.”
- “Ok Google, turn on/off everything.”
