Stricter rules for Snapchat

Every day we upload millions of photos on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. All those photos are stored on a server and it is not always clear whether something can still be removed completely. That makes the app Snapchat also so popular. With Snapchat, you can easily send photos to friends and set how long the picture can be seen. Think about 3 to 10 seconds. After this, the photo is automatically deleted.

Fun for young people, not so much for parents

The fact that you see a picture a for a few seconds ensures that you are less critical to your own photo. It’s not so bad if it’s not a great photo of you because the picture will be completely removed after a few seconds. Snapchat is really for fun and not for the perfect picture. The app also has a downside, since it is used more and more by young people to send so-called 18+ or nude photos.

This development has ensured that Snapchat has introduced new rules. One of those rules is that for minors it is absolutely prohibited to take photos of themselves or others without clothes. The organization behind Snapchat also published a guide for parents of young people who use Snapchat. The guide teaches parents how to deal with the App, why young people use the app and what security settings the app has.

The list of things that are not allowed by the App also includes the items threats, pretending to be someone else, illegal business and self-harm.
